biography
RAPHAËL VON ALLMEN (1983) works as a product designer and scenographer in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. After some travels he moved to Lausanne and studied product design at the University of Art and Design (ECAL). He graduated with honors in 2007 and moved to Zurich to work on furniture design for Christophe Marchand (CH). During this period he also assisted CM and Pierre Charpin (F) in their teaching at ECAL.
In 2009, Raphaël opened his own design studio and started a lasting collaboration with scenographers Patrick Burnier and Anna Jones from Curious Space (Brighton, UK) at the MEN (Museum of Ethnography, Neuchâtel). A few months later, he moved to Tanzania and spent close to a year working as field and operation manager for a water & sanitation NGO called MSABI. Since his return, he has been developping furniture concepts, objects and space-related designs for various clients. Since 2011 he has also been gaining a strong experience as a production manager on several ambitious exhibitions and trade fair stands. Since 2012 he also acts as the swiss antenna of Curious Space.
